Live dealer games are the closest thing to sitting at a real casino table without leaving your room in Accra, Kumasi or Takoradi. A real person deals real cards or spins a real wheel in a studio, a camera streams it to your phone, and you place bets through buttons on the screen. It feels more honest than a slot, and in some ways it is. But the house edge is exactly the same as at a land-based table, the pace keeps you betting, and a weak connection can cost you a bet. So my brother, let's go through how live tables work, the real edge on each game, what an hour at the table actually costs, and how to play with crypto without losing track of your cedis.
18+ only. Every casino game has a built-in house edge and most players lose over time. Gaming in Ghana is regulated by the Gaming Commission of Ghana under the Gaming Act 2006 (Act 721). Cloudbet, the crypto casino we link to, holds a Curaçao licence and is not licensed by the Gaming Commission of Ghana.

How a live dealer table actually works
Live casino games are run by specialist studios that film dealers at physical tables, around the clock, and stream them to many casinos at once. The casino you play through provides your account and balance; the studio provides the table. When you join a table:
- A betting window opens, usually with a countdown of several seconds.
- You place chips on the on-screen layout. When the timer ends, bets are locked.
- The dealer deals or spins. Card and wheel results are read by cameras and sensors and shown on screen.
- Winning bets are paid automatically, and the next betting window opens.
Because the equipment is physical, these games are not "provably fair" in the seeds-and-hashes sense used by crypto dice games. Trust comes from the studio's licences, testing and the fact that the action is visible on camera. If you want to understand the difference, our guide to provably fair casino games explains it.
The main live games and their real edge
The edge on a live table is set by the rules and payouts, exactly as at a physical casino. Standard figures:
| Game and bet | House edge | Note |
|---|---|---|
| European roulette (single zero) | 2.70% | The default to look for |
| French roulette with la partage on even-money bets | 1.35% on those bets | Half your even-money stake back on zero |
| American roulette (double zero) | 5.26% | Twice the edge; skip it |
| Baccarat, Banker bet (5% commission) | 1.06% | Lowest edge in baccarat |
| Baccarat, Player bet | 1.24% | Close second |
| Baccarat, Tie at 8 to 1 | 14.36% | One of the worst bets in the casino |
| Blackjack, good rules, basic strategy | Around 0.5% | Depends on table rules |
| Blackjack, guessing / poor strategy | 2% or more | Strategy matters a lot |
Two quick lessons. In roulette, the wheel matters more than the bet: on a single-zero wheel almost every bet carries the same 2.70% edge, so "clever" betting systems don't change it. In baccarat, the bet matters more than anything: Banker and Player are cheap, Tie and most side bets are expensive. Our page on roulette bets goes deeper on wheels and layouts.
Live baccarat in plain words
Baccarat looks complicated on screen, with its road maps and many side bets, but the core game takes no decisions at all. Two hands are dealt, called Player and Banker. You bet on which one finishes closer to 9, or on a Tie. Card values are simple: aces count 1, two to nine count face value, and tens and picture cards count zero. Only the last digit of a total matters, so 7 plus 8 is 15, which counts as 5. A fixed drawing rule decides whether either hand takes a third card, and the dealer applies it automatically. You never choose to "hit" or "stand".
The Banker hand wins slightly more often because of how that rule works, which is why a winning Banker bet usually pays even money minus 5% commission. Some tables use "no commission" versions that instead pay less when Banker wins with a particular total. Those can carry a slightly different edge, so read the paytable. Since you have no decisions to make, your only real choices are which bet you place and how much. Stick to Banker or Player, ignore the road displays, and set a stake you can repeat for an hour without worry.
Live blackjack: the table rules that change everything
Blackjack is the live game where your decisions genuinely change the edge, and also where table rules hide the most cost. Before you sit down, check the rules panel for:
- Blackjack payout. 3 to 2 is standard. A GH₵20 bet pays GH₵30 on a blackjack. Some tables pay 6 to 5, which is only GH₵24, and that one change adds roughly 1.4 percentage points to the house edge.
- Dealer stands or hits on soft 17. Standing is slightly better for you.
- Doubling and splitting rules. Restrictions add small amounts to the edge.
- Side bets. Perfect pairs, 21+3 and similar side bets usually carry far higher edges than the main game.
Many live blackjack tables also offer "bet behind", where you place a bet on another player's hand when seats are full. You follow their decisions, good or bad. It is fine for fun, but you are trusting a stranger's strategy with your money. Our crypto blackjack guide includes a basic strategy you can actually remember.
Why rounds per hour matter more than the edge
The number that tells you what live casino really costs isn't the edge on its own. It is the edge times how much you bet in an hour. Live tables are slower than slots, but still steady. Using rough, illustrative paces and a GH₵20 stake per round:
| Game | Rounds per hour (rough) | Total wagered per hour | House edge used | Expected cost per hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Live European roulette | 40 | GH₵800 | 2.70% | about GH₵21.60 |
| Live blackjack (basic strategy) | 50 | GH₵1,000 | 0.5% | about GH₵5 |
| Live baccarat (Banker) | 60 | GH₵1,200 | 1.06% | about GH₵12.70 |
Actual pace depends on the table, how many players are seated and how fast the dealer works. Speed versions of baccarat and roulette run much faster, which pushes the hourly cost up even with the same edge. Expected cost is an average; in any single hour you might be well up or well down. But it's a fair way to think about price: an hour of live roulette at GH₵20 a spin costs you, on average, about the same as a good meal out.
Game shows: big multipliers, bigger edges
Live "game shows" with spinning money wheels, bonus rounds and random multipliers are very popular. They are fun to watch, but their RTP is usually lower than classic tables and varies a lot from bet to bet within the same game. Some segments may return around 96%, others noticeably less. The rule is simple: open the game's info or help panel, find the RTP for each bet type, and treat game shows as entertainment with a price, not a way to grow a balance.
Playing live from Ghana: data, power and connection
Live dealer is a video stream. That brings practical issues that slots don't have:
- Mobile data. A live stream uses a lot more data than a slot. Depending on video quality, an hour can use a few hundred megabytes up to well over a gigabyte. Lower the video quality in the settings if you're on a bundle.
- Connection drops. If your connection drops after the betting window closes, your bet normally stands and is settled at the result. If it drops in the middle of a blackjack decision, the table's rules decide what happens, often a default action such as stand. Read the "malfunction" or "disconnection" rules.
- Power cuts. Keep your phone charged. Don't start a session on 10% battery with no power backup.
- Delay. Your stream may run a couple of seconds behind. You can't "beat the timer" by watching the dealer.
Ghana stays on GMT all year, and most live studios run 24 hours a day, so there is always a table open. That's convenient and also a risk: a live table at 2 a.m. is not a good idea for anybody.

Funding live casino play with crypto
Most players from Ghana who use offshore crypto casinos fund their accounts with BTC, ETH, LTC or a stablecoin. Things to keep in mind:
- Choose a stablecoin for budgeting. USDT keeps your balance steady in value, so a GH₵1,000 budget stays roughly GH₵1,000 while you play.
- Check the network every time. Sending a coin on the wrong network can lose it permanently.
- Count every cost. Exchange spreads when buying with mobile money or a bank, network fees on deposit and withdrawal, and price moves if you hold BTC or ETH.
- ID checks can still happen. Offshore casinos may ask for verification before larger withdrawals.

Bonuses and live casino
Casino bonuses often count live games at a reduced rate towards wagering requirements, or not at all. A bonus that needs 35× wagering might effectively need far more if live roulette counts at only 10%. Some bonuses also cap your maximum bet while they are active, and breaking that rule can void winnings. Read the terms carefully, and if live tables are your main game, it can be cleaner to play without a bonus.
Betting systems at live tables
Live tables seem to invite systems: martingale on red, following "trends" on the baccarat road display, betting the "cold" numbers. None of them change the edge:
- Martingale (double after each loss) wins small amounts often and then hits a table limit or your balance limit. Ten losses in a row on an even-money roulette bet happen more often than people think over a long session.
- Baccarat roads (the bead and big road displays) show past results. They are history, not prediction. Each hand is independent of the last apart from the cards already used in the shoe, and that effect is far too small to beat the edge.
- Hot and cold numbers in roulette are the same. A fair wheel has no memory.
A cedi session plan for live tables
Set your limits before the first hand, and stick to them:
| Session budget | Stake per round | Stop-loss | Time limit | Lock-away if up |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GH₵300 | GH₵5–10 | GH₵300 | 45 minutes | Half of any profit |
| GH₵1,000 | GH₵20 | GH₵1,000 | 1 hour | Half of any profit |
| GH₵2,500 | GH₵50 | GH₵2,500 | 1 hour | Half of any profit |
- Pick the game with the lowest edge you enjoy: blackjack with basic strategy, Banker in baccarat, or single-zero roulette.
- Skip Tie bets, 6 to 5 blackjack tables, American roulette and most side bets.
- Use the casino's deposit limit and session reminder tools.
- Never deposit again in the same session.
Choosing a live casino: quick checks
- Which studios provide the tables, and are the rules panels clear?
- Single-zero roulette available? 3 to 2 blackjack tables available?
- Are table limits sensible for your budget? Low minimums matter on a small bankroll.
- How do bonuses treat live games?
- What does the operator's licence cover, and what is the dispute route?
- Are withdrawal times and ID rules clearly stated?

Is live casino legal in Ghana?
Gaming in Ghana is regulated by the Gaming Commission of Ghana under Act 721, and only operators it licenses may legally offer gaming to people in Ghana, for those aged 18 and over. Offshore crypto casinos such as Cloudbet (Curaçao) are not licensed by the Gaming Commission of Ghana. See our guides on legal online casinos in Ghana and whether betting is legal in Ghana. Act 1129 removed the withholding tax on betting winnings from 2 April 2025, but the Ghana Revenue Authority still treats winnings as income you should report.
Live dealer checklist
- Is it single-zero roulette, 3 to 2 blackjack, or Banker/Player in baccarat?
- Have I read the table rules and disconnection rules?
- Do I know roughly how much I'll wager in an hour, and what that costs on average?
- Is my budget in a stablecoin, on the right network?
- Are bonus terms going to trap my balance?
- Have I set a stop-loss and a time limit?
- Am I 18+, rested and playing for fun?

Questions punters ask
What is a live dealer casino?
It is an online casino section where real dealers run real tables in a studio, streamed to your phone or computer. You bet through on-screen buttons during a timed betting window.
Which live dealer game has the lowest house edge?
Blackjack with good rules and basic strategy, at around 0.5%, followed by the Banker bet in baccarat at about 1.06%. Single-zero roulette is 2.70%.
Are live dealer games rigged?
Reputable studios use physical cards and wheels on camera and are licensed and tested. They are not provably fair in the crypto sense, but the house edge comes from the rules, not from cheating.
How much data does live casino use?
It varies with video quality. An hour can use from a few hundred megabytes to over a gigabyte. Lower the quality setting on mobile data.
What happens if my connection drops during a live game?
Bets placed before the window closed usually stand. For decisions such as in blackjack, the table's rules decide, often a default action. Check the disconnection rules.
